The problem with the retreat point in 1v1s is it is an unnecessary risk. Vet 2 major gets 2 more shells on the barrage (impressive, right? Woooooooo /sarcasm). He's strictly a support unit, and fairly inefficient, but sometimes that artillery is what you need. It can't be punished, really, and you can actually get vision of just about anywhere on the map once you figure out the way the planes move. It's even more valuable when you're ahead.
